The C. F. Martin Company

C. F. Martin was born in Markneukirchen, Saxony, in 1796.  He learned the trade of guitar making there and in Vienna and then emigrated to New York in 1833 where the first Martin guitars were made.  In 1839 he moved his business to Nazareth, Pennsylvania where they are still made after 175 years!  The Martin family still owns and directs the business as it always has.
